The most important tips for visiting the Royal Palace of Caserta are these: it is closed on Tuesdays, you should plan a full day, and the park closes earlier than the palace in autumn and winter, so check the hours for your month. Large bags must go in the cloakroom, dogs are not allowed, and an electric shuttle saves a long walk in the park.

The complex is closed on Tuesdays, on 1 January and on 25 December. Opening hours change from month to month, and the official hours page has a month filter. Here are a few months as examples (opening / last entry):
| Month | Royal Apartments | Royal Park | English Garden |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | 8:30 / 18:15 | 8:30 / 15:00 | 8:30 / 14:00 |
| April to September | 8:30 / 18:15 | 8:30 / 18:00 | 8:30 / 17:00 |
| October | 8:30 / 18:15 | 8:30 / 16:30 | 8:30 / 16:00 |
| November | 8:30 / 18:15 | 8:30 / 14:30 | 8:30 / 14:00 |
Our opening hours page lists the whole year. Times were read on 22 October 2026, so always confirm before you travel. The apartments close at 19:15 in every month shown. The museum also warns that part of the Royal Apartments route can be closed when there are not enough staff.
How much time do I need?
The museum itself says to plan a full day. The ticket page gives about 2.5 hours for the palace and about 4 hours for the park and English Garden. From October to March the park closes early (between 15:30 and 17:30), so arrive at 8:30 and do the park first; from April to September either order works.
What are the rules on bags, dogs and strollers?
- Cloakroom: backpacks larger than 40 x 30 x 10 cm and umbrellas must be deposited. Baby carrier backpacks are not admitted.
- Dogs: not allowed, except service dogs.
- Bikes: not allowed in the English Garden, and the only entrance open to bikes is Corso Pietro Giannone 5.
- Strollers: our sources do not confirm the rules, so ask at the entrance.
Is the Reggia accessible?
The museum offers wheelchairs on loan in limited numbers. Booking is optional and is done by email to re-ce.segnalazioni@cultura.gov.it. There is a lift in the palace, and the recommended entrance is Piazza Carlo di Borbone. A separate accessible shuttle runs in the park. Details are on the accessibility page.
How do I get around the park?
The park is about 3 km long. An electric shuttle runs along the Water Way to the Diana and Actaeon fountain for 3 euros return, every day from 9:00 until the park closes. Bike rental is also available. See our park and English Garden guide.
Where can I eat?
The site has a restaurant, a cafe, a buvette and a place called Il Giardino della Camelia, plus a bookshop. Check the services page for what is open that day.
Tips for a smoother visit
- Buy tickets in advance from the official seller; see tickets and prices.
- Avoid the free first Sunday if you want the full visit: the English Garden, Great Gallery, Vanvitelli and Amelio rooms and Court Theatre are closed.
- Check the Court Theatre separately: in October it opens only on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
- Wear comfortable shoes; the distances are long.
- Plan transport with our getting there guide.
